Community Corrections provides the courts in Macomb County with several alternatives to incarceration. We recognize that many individuals who are incarcerated have a history of drug or alcohol abuse and mental health concerns and that providing treatment in lieu of jail time improves their outcomes as well as public safety.
How It Works
At sentencing, there may be an opportunity to allow an individual to participate in residential substance abuse treatment, jail-based Cognitive reflective programming, release to the community to a number of different programs. Community Corrections assesses those individuals and makes recommendations to the court for appropriate programming based on their identified needs. If released is ordered, Community Corrections staff facilitate transfer to a number of different programs, provide case management during program participation and report back to the court.
Depending on the individual circumstance and eligibility, a number of residential substance abuse program are available that range from 12 days to 180 days at several different locations. This is determined by Community Corrections staff. Individuals may also be appropriate for outpatient and substance use testing services, electronic monitoring through tether, community service, and a number of other community-based alternatives.
